چکیده

This work designs a silica (SiO2) layer on molybdenum metal core to provide new insights the corrosion resistance of silica/silicide coating in Ni-based superalloy. The substrate coated with MoSi2 by pack cementation was pre-oxidized fabricate cristobalite scale surface and preoxidation specimens were chosen examine corrosion-resistant property using DSM11 superalloy at 1550 °C. In order prepare layer, microstructure evolution 40- µm different oxidation parameters (temperature time) investigated. After casting test, results showed that silicide dissolved molten However, matrix found be protected as well accompanied partially destroyed core/superalloy interfaces. Furthermore, reason for destruction analyzed. failure mechanism proposed during cast process.

Wettability of Carbonaceous Materials with Molten Iron at 1550°C

In the direct iron smelting process, interfacial reactions of carbonaceous materials with molten iron are among some of the key factors that dictate the rate of carbon transfer into molten iron and establish a carbon concentrated melt to reduce iron oxide in the slag phase. Detailed wettability investigations on a range of carbonaceous materials, e.g. synthetic graphite, natural graphite, coke,...

Influence of Wettability and Reactivity on Refractory Degradation – Interactions of Molten Iron and Slags with Steelmaking Refractories at 1550°C

Refractories, materials that can withstand high temperatures, play an important role in the iron and steel sector which alone accounts for ~70% of total refractories pro‐ duced. In this chapter, detailed wettability and interfacial phenomena investiga‐ tions on alumina-carbon and zirconia-carbon refractories at steelmaking temperatures. The wettability between refractory substrates and molten i...

Oxidation resistance of the nanostructured YSZ coating on the IN-738 superalloy

Conventional and nanostructured YSZ coatings were deposited on the IN-738 Ni super alloy by the atmospheric plasma spray technique. The oxidation was measured at 1100°C in an atmospheric electrical furnace. According to the experimental results the nanostructured coatings showed a better oxidation resistance than the conventional ones. The improved oxidation resistance of the nanocoating could ...

Rare gas collisions with molten metal surfaces.

Newly available experimental data for the scattering of argon, neon, and xenon atoms from molten gallium, indium, and bismuth surfaces are compared to calculations with classical scattering theory. The results of the theory are in reasonable agreement with observed energy-resolved spectra taken at fixed angles, with in-plane angular distributions, and with the first available out-of-plane angul...
